This is the first Port Strike that’s shown up in the Jump War campaign playtest, and it involves a classic match-up between raiders and builders: in this case, Eldar Corsairs and Imperial ships from Battlefleet Gothic.

Those of you who’ve roamed the site know that I once posted a list of space stations available on Shapeways. Shapeways, for those of you who don’t know, is a print-on-demand 3-d printing service. The ship above is the Belter Trading Station, by Irrational Designs, which showed up on my doorstep yesterday.
Fleet Engagement: Kharadorn v. TRN
The next in our campaign playtest series is a Fleet Engagement between the Kharadorn and the Terran Republic Navy, fictionally led by Kate and Terry, respectively. Unlike the fleet engagement between Camille and Zed, this one takes place around an unpopulated gas giant (Njirana) with three moons.
Kate and Terry roll fleet initiative to see what kind of fleet engagement it is. Terry wins the roll, so (because she’s the defender in this case) the engagement is a set-piece.

In order to generate a whole bunch of games in order to test scenario balance and the campaign rules, I’ve started running a campaign solo with eight fleets. This is the first battle, where I discover that an iPhone might not be the best tool with which to take pictures.

World War II clearly needed better writers
As a resource for GMs whose players might say, “that doesn’t make any sense,” I give you this:
Let’s start with the bad guys. Battalions of stormtroopers dressed in all black, check. Secret police, check. Determination to brutally kill everyone who doesn’t look like them, check. Leader with a tiny villain mustache and a tendency to go into apopleptic rage when he doesn’t get his way, check.
